It has been a busy start to this half term with plenty of activity at Downs Park School.
World Book day was a great success – the children thoroughly enjoyed dressing up as their favourite characters as did the staff!
We also had a visit from touring theatre group M&M Productions who entertained the children with an exciting performance of the The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe .
With many more School Events taking place before the end of this term it is sure to fly by. Please note that the last day of term is Friday 4 April 2014 and school will re-open to pupils on Wednesday 23 April 2014.
Welcome to Downs Park. We are part of the CDP Federation of special schools with Patcham House Special School and Cedar Centre. Our school is a Community Special School maintained by Brighton and Hove Council. We have 84 pupils on roll, aged 4 to 16 years. The school is staffed to provide an education for pupils with a variety of learning difficulties who are in possession of a Statement of Special Educational Needs.
The school has expertise in a range of special needs which may be associated with learning difficulties, the foremost of these being in pupils with Autistic Spectrum Conditions and Attachment Disorder. Downs Park has ten classes, three of which are for pupils with Autism. It also manages the two mainstream ASC facilities at the West Blatchington Schools.
We are situated in Portslade Old Village, and occupy a site on the edge of the South Downs with views over the sea and Shoreham Harbour.
