Summer Term at Downs Park School seems to be racing by. Many children have already been on exciting trips this term - residentials to Hindleap Warren and PGL, Sailing and Titanic Museum trips to name a few! There are still more to come - including a forest skills camping expedition! Take a look at the DPS School Events page.
Last week we said a fond, and tearful, farewell to our Year 11 pupils with a leavers' celebration assembly. All the staff at Downs Park wish them well for the future.
Downs Park took part in The Children's Parade this year, the sun shone and the event was enjoyed by pupils, staff, parents and carers.
Welcome to Downs Park. We are part of the CDP Federation of special schools with Patcham House Special School and Cedar Centre. Our school is a Community Special School maintained by Brighton and Hove Council. We have 84 pupils on roll, aged 4 to 16 years. The school is staffed to provide an education for pupils with a variety of learning difficulties who are in possession of a Statement of Special Educational Needs. The school has expertise in a range of special needs which may be associated with learning difficulties, the foremost of these being in pupils with Autistic Spectrum Conditions and Attachment Disorder. Downs Park has ten classes, three of which are for pupils with Autism. It also manages the two mainstream ASC facilities at the West Blatchington Schools.
We are situated in Portslade Old Village, and occupy a site on the edge of the South Downs with views over the sea and Shoreham Harbour.
You can keep up to date with what's happening across all three of the CDP Federation schools through our new weekly blog.
DPS is part of the Portslade Partnership of Schools
