The summer holidays are now a distant memory and we are already getting stuck in to the exciting variety of new topics that we will be focusing on over the next few weeks.
As our pupils settle in to the new school year we are looking forward to working with them this term - there will be a good opportunity to catch up with parents and carers at Parents Evening in November 2014.
There are many educational trips and visits planned including Eagles, Falcons and Year 9 classes heading off to the Towner Contemporary Art Gallery and Owls Class having already spent a great day out at Michelham Priory
Our soon to be updated School Event page will show many other events for your diary!
Welcome to Downs Park. We are part of the CDP Federation of special schools with Patcham House Special School and Cedar Centre. Our school is a Community Special School maintained by Brighton and Hove Council. We have 84 pupils on roll, aged 4 to 16 years. The school is staffed to provide an education for pupils with a variety of learning difficulties who are in possession of a Statement of Special Educational Needs. The school has expertise in a range of special needs which may be associated with learning difficulties, the foremost of these being in pupils with Autistic Spectrum Conditions and Attachment Disorder. Downs Park has ten classes, three of which are for pupils with Autism. It also manages the two mainstream ASC facilities at the West Blatchington Schools.
We are situated in Portslade Old Village, and occupy a site on the edge of the South Downs with views over the sea and Shoreham Harbour.
You can keep up to date with what's happening across all three of the CDP Federation schools through our new weekly blog.
